Felipe Valdés, Co-Founder and CEO
Felipe co-founded Tiaxa in the year 2000 and has been CEO since 2003. Prior to Tiaxa, he led sales and business development teams in the e-commerce, internet and high-performance computing fields for Latin American tech startups such as Starmedia Networks and Silicon Chile. In these companies, he participated in creating the region’s first cobranded internet credit card, and LatAm’s first supercomputing, telemedicine and distance education projects. Before that he was part of the M&A team at Chilean energy holding company, Enersis, during its international expansion. Felipe has a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering degree from Princeton University.
Olav Carlsen, CFO
Olav Carlsen has been with Tiaxa since 2009, as CFO, and in various business development roles. Prior to Tiaxa, he served as CFO of various Silicon Valley technology companies, including PortalPlayer Inc. (PLAY on NASDAQ) and Transmeta Corporation (TMTA on NASDAQ), responsible for IPO, M&A and financing activities. Olav is a US CPA and holds an MBA degree from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. He has lived and worked in Chile, Germany, the UK, Panama, Bolivia and California.
Aiaze Mitha, Chief MFS Officer
Aiaze Mitha joined Tiaxa as Chief MFS Officer in September 2014 and is managing the company’s efforts in the Mobile Financial Services space. Prior to Tiaxa, Aiaze founded Amarante Consulting and was lead MFS expert for IFC in Africa and Latin America. Over the last 8 years, he advised mobile operators, financial institutions and policymakers with their Mobile Financial Services initiatives globally. Before that, he directed M-Paisa for Roshan in Afghanistan. Aiaze holds a Masters of Science degree from University of Quebec and a BA from Telcom Paris.
Simon Mui, Business Development, China
Simon Mui is Tiaxa’s Country Manager and Director of Business Development in China. Previously he was VP of Business Development in PCCW where he was responsible for sales and marketing strategies for enterprises such as China Mobile, China Unicom and Bank of China, as well as market entry and partnership strategies. Prior to PCCW, Simon was engaged in senior positions in PricewaterhouseCoopers as Principal Consultant, and Hutchison Telecom as Head of IT. Simon graduated from University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Computing and a Master of Economics.
Vince Parr, Business Development, SEA
British national, Vince Parr has been with Tiaxa since 2011 as Director of Business Development for South East Asia and more recently as Director of Tiaxa Philippines. Living in Asia for over 25 years Vince began his career in the music industry and then moved to the telecommunications business in 2003. Since then he has held senior management positions in both Smart Communications and Globe Telecom in the Philippines and held advisory roles for a number of European and North American companies wishing to expand their business in the Asia Pacific region.
Diego Valenzuela, Technology
Diego Valenzuela has been working at Tiaxa since 2011 leading many initiatives associated to Balance Advance Solutions, Subscription Managers, Rating Systems and Infrastructure Solutions in general. Diego brings more than 16 years of experience in development and management of IT Solutions, from the development of complex IT Systems to the implementation of cutting edge Hardware Solutions. Prior to Tiaxa Diego worked as the Leader of the IT Presales Practice and Project Management at Entel, one of the the largest Telecom companies in Chile. Before Entel, he worked as a Senior IT Consultant at Everis, an international consulting company (now NTT Data). Diego has an Electronics Engineering degree from Universidad Federico Santa María in Chile.
