MONICA BRAND ENGEL
Monica Brand Engel is a co-founding Partner of Quona Capital, venture firm focused on fintech for inclusion. Monica is an investor and entrepreneur, having launched a number of investment vehicles and products aimed at improving access and quality of financial services for the underserved. She sits on the Boards of Yoco, Zoona, Azimo, served as Adjunct Professor, Impact Investment at Johns Hopkins and holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BA, Economics from Williams College.
Soames is the Co-Founder and CEO of St. Andrew’s, one of the world’s leading seafood producers and exporters. Previously, Soames co-founded a search fund, A5, and was also co-founder and CFO of Tiaxa in 2000. Soames is a Board Member of Torrecom, Andacor and Mundo Crédito, and holds an MBA from Harvard University and a BA in Economics from Bowdoin College.
Sergio Gutiérrez is one of the founders and General Manager of EPG Partners. Previously, he founded IG Capital, a private investment fund focused on Chilean SMEs. Between 2002 and 2008 he worked in the investment banking of Deutsche Bank and in IM Trust, where he participated and led numerous mergers, acquisitions and transactions in the capital markets. Previously he worked in the mergers and acquisitions team of Enersis, mainly in Brazil. Sergio has a Civil Engineering degree from the Catholic University of Chile and has a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Felipe was one of the founders of Tiaxa in 2000 and has been its CEO since 2003. Prior to Tiaxa, he worked as head of sales and business development teams in the fields of electronic commerce, internet and high performance computing for Starmedia Networks and Silicon Chile, where he participated in the creation of the first cobranded internet credit card in the region and the first supercomputing, telemedicine and distance education projects in Latin America. Prior to that, he was part of the mergers and acquisitions team of the Chilean holding company Enersis during its international expansion stage. Felipe has a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University in the USA.
Ann Williams is the COO of Creditas, a leading financial technology and consumer lending company in Brazil. Previously, she was a Venture Partner at Redpoint e.ventures. From 2003 to 2010 she was shareholder and CEO of OKTO, a mobile data management, rating and delivery gateway, from start-up through its acquisition by Spring Wireless. From 2000 to 2003, she was country manager of Tiaxa Brazil, and previously worked as a consultant with Diamond Cluster, Braxton Associates and USAID. She is a graduate of Stanford University and has an MBA and MPA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jorge worked for 5 years as the General Manager and Commercial VP at Interexport, a company that was acquired by Motorola in March 2017. Since then he has been dedicated to angel investments and consulting for Chilean startups in the field of IOT. Previously, Jorge worked at Tiaxa for 7 years, where he led the sales team in Latin America. Before Tiaxa he worked at AT&T for 9 years leading business development teams with regional responsibility. Jorge holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica and an MBA degree from Adolfo Ibañez University.
